Nigerian musician Dike Ubochioma Chukwuebuka, popularly known as DYKKE, has revealed why he left his career as a chartered accountant to pursue his passion for Afrobeat music.
Born and raised in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, DYKKE grew up in a musical household.
His older brothers introduced him to music by singing and rapping, which sparked his interest.
“I watched my brothers buy songbooks, sing, and rap different kinds of songs,” he said. “Over time, I developed the ability to write and perform my own music.”
Despite his love for music, DYKKE first pursued a career in accounting.
However, his passion for music remained strong, leading him to start recording and releasing songs.
His creative process is inspired by life experiences, emotions, and sounds around him.
DYKKE released Call Jehovah, which is available on all streaming platforms.
The official music video is also on YouTube. He is currently working on a new song, which he plans to announce soon.
Although promoting his music without a major record label has been challenging, DYKKE is determined to succeed. “I’m working on building partnerships to help me reach a bigger audience,” he said.
As more professionals switch careers to follow their passions, DYKKE’s journey from accounting to music shows that talent and determination can open new doors.
