The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Customs, Excise, and Tariff, Senator Isah Echocho, has lauded President Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of the North Central Development Commission.

Echocho, who described the initiative as a landmark achievement that will foster development and address the regionโ€™s unique challenges, also said North Central feel vindicated for supporting Tinubu in 2023.

In a statement released on Saturday through his media aide, Mikail Ibrahim, Echocho hailed the NCDCโ€™s creation as a โ€œmomentous occasionโ€ for the North Central region, demonstrating President Tinubuโ€™s responsiveness to the needs of the people.

โ€œToday, we feel vindicated for supporting President Tinubu in the 2023 election. He has listened to our concerns,โ€ he stated, emphasising the commissionโ€™s potential to drive economic growth, infrastructure development, and social welfare.

He continued, โ€œThis commission represents a new dawn for our region.

โ€œIt acknowledges the unique challenges we face and demonstrates a commitment to ensuring the North Central region receives the attention and resources it deserves. We have long needed a structured approach to tackle issues such as poverty, unemployment, and inadequate infrastructure, and the NCDC is a significant step in that direction.โ€

Echocho called on stakeholders, local governments, and community leaders to collaborate with the commission, emphasising the importance of inclusive development that benefits all segments of society, particularly youth and marginalized communities.

He also commended the Senate, under the able leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, for its role in this landmark achievement.

Echocho expressed optimism that the commission will attract investment and enhance the regionโ€™s economic prospects, reaffirming his commitment to working closely with the NCDC.

He reiterated his gratitude to Tinubu for his visionary leadership and commitment to national development, urging all Nigerians to support the NCDC in its mission to transform the North Central region.
