Sanusi, Moghalu for Rivers investment summit

The 14th Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Alhaji Lamido Sanusi, a former deputy Governor of Central Bank, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, as well as former presidential aide, Prof. Magnus Kpakol, are expected to lead discussions at the Rivers State Economic and Investment Summit, 2024 hold between today (Wednesday) and Thursday, May 23.

The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joseph Johnson, disclosed this at a news briefing in Port Harcourt on Monday.

Johnson said Moghalu would chair the discussion on day one with Kpakol as co-chairman.

He said Sanusi will chair day two of the event, featuring six panel discussions.

He said, “The Rivers State Economic Investment Summit will be starting in two days’ time. The two-day summit will be on the 22nd and end on the 23rd of May, 2024. Day one will have Professor Kingsley Moghalu as the Chairman and Co-chaired by Professor Magnus Kpakol. These people are seasoned financial experts.

“Day Two will have the former Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido, who will chair that day’s event, and we will have thematic areas that will be segmented into six layers. Panel one will deal with inclusive education technology and the topics will be on empowering the future and leveraging education and technology for youth and woman empowerment.

“There will be several speakers who will be delivering papers on that day. The second panel will be manufacturing and industrialisation and the topic will be attracting investment in manufacturing strategies in collaboration and partnership. We have outlined a number of speakers that will take charge of that second session.

“Panel three will be the ease of doing business and the impact of government regulations in enhancing the ease of doing business in Rivers State. There will be a line-up of very prominent speakers who will be delivering papers. Panel four will be infrastructural development and renewable energy and Rivers State as investment destinations for development initiatives.”

Continuing, he said, “Panel five will be on the blue economy. We will be harnessing the blue economy investment and opportunities for a sustainable coastal marine sector. We have four panelists who will be doing justice to it.

“Panel six will be the creative economy. The Creative economy and today’s youths’ investment opportunities in creative sectors as part of the activities six panelists will be dealing with.

“Number seven is economic growth and development. The topic is fertilizing economic growth and development strategies for security, sustainable and inclusive prosperity. Six panelists are handling that.

“We will end up with rural development and agriculture, innovative financing for rural and agricultural projects in Rivers State.

“These are part of what we will be experiencing on the two-day programme which will commence on the 22nd and 23rd. I’m sure that we are aware that today is very critical in what we are doing.”
