PSC Appoints Six DIGs, Names New Commissioners for Enugu, Oyo

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the appointment of six new Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). In addition to the promotions, the commission also approved the appointment of new Commissioners of Police (CPs) for Enugu and Oyo States.

The newly appointed DIGs are expected to take charge of various key departments within the police structure, supporting the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in enforcing law and order across the country. Their selection is based on experience, seniority, and service records, as the PSC aims to reposition the force for improved security management.

Meanwhile, the new CPs for Enugu and Oyo have been tasked with addressing security challenges in their respective states. Enugu, a state that has witnessed rising concerns over insecurity, and Oyo, which has faced issues related to banditry and communal clashes, will now be under fresh leadership in the police force.

The PSC emphasized that these appointments are part of its commitment to ensuring effective policing and leadership continuity in the force. The commission urged the new DIGs and CPs to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and dedication in carrying out their duties.

The newly appointed officers are expected to assume their roles immediately, with a mandate to implement strategies aimed at crime prevention, community engagement, and intelligence-driven policing. The commission reiterated its resolve to continue promoting competent officers while ensuring a disciplined and accountable police force.

These changes come amid ongoing police reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency, accountability, and public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
