Tributes flowed on Saturday in Jos as the slain Plateau State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Sylvanus Namang, is laid to rest.

Namang, who hailed from the Mangu Local Government Area, was shot dead in the neighbouring Pankshin LGA where he attended a burial about two weeks ago.

He was said to be buying something in a shop in the area when the hoodlums gunned him down.

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, who attended the funeral service of the APC spokesman held at the Church of Christ in Nations, Gigiring, on Saturday described his death as a colossal loss not only to Plateau State but Nigeria and beyond.

Mutfwang called for thorough investigations into the tragic death of the late Namang to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to justice.

He added that his administration will not tolerate any form of insecurity and lawlessness in the state and will work with the security agencies to ensure that the culprits are apprehended and prosecuted.

He said under his administration, evil doers would have no dwelling place in Plateau State and would face the full wrath of the law.

The governor also cautioned against the politicisation of the death of Namang and said what the family needed at the moment was comfort which would only come from God.

Tributes also came from the former governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, who recalled knowing Namang since the 90s as a youth leader.

“Namang worked for Plateau state and died for Plateau State,” Lalong said.

The wife of the deceased, Mrs Milcah Namang, described her husband as a focused and resolute person who never turned back after taking a direction he believed in since she was married to him in 1982.
