Rivers United technical adviser, Finidi George, expressed satisfaction as his tactical approach yielded results in their draw against Shooting Stars.
The Pride of Rivers secured a goalless stalemate at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Monday.
Finidi revealed that he had analyzed Shooting Stars’ previous game against Enyimba in Aba to understand their strategy.
Acknowledging the difficulty of the match, he praised his players for their resilience and determination.
“It was a very tough match. We knew how they played—I watched their game against Enyimba in Aba, where they used several midfielders with one striker. I anticipated a similar setup, especially with them playing at home,” Finidi told Rivers United’s media.
“To counter that, we deployed a defensive midfielder to bolster our defense. They opted for a direct approach for most of the game, but the boys did well to contain them.
“I’m pleased with the result because this is a tough venue. It’s not easy to get a point here, and I must commend my boys for their great effort.
