Joshua Right to Reject Dubois Rematch – Amir Khan
Former world champion Amir Khan has backed Anthony Joshua’s decision to turn down a potential rematch with Daniel Dubois, stating that it is not the right fight for the former heavyweight champion at this stage of his career.
A Strategic Move by Joshua
Joshua, who secured a stoppage victory over Dubois in their previous encounter, has opted against an immediate rematch. According to Khan, this decision makes sense, as Joshua is focused on bigger challenges, including a potential shot at the undisputed heavyweight title.
“Joshua has nothing to prove against Dubois,” Khan said in an interview. “He won convincingly, and there are much bigger fights out there for him. Fighting Dubois again wouldn’t do much for his career at this point.”
Bigger Fights on the Horizon
Joshua has been linked to blockbuster fights against Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, and Oleksandr Usyk. His team is reportedly in talks to secure a major bout that could bring him closer to reclaiming the world title.
Khan believes that a rematch with Dubois could be a step backward rather than forward. “AJ should be looking at legacy-defining fights. Dubois is a talented fighter, but Joshua needs to aim for world titles and the biggest names in the division.”
Dubois Still in the Mix
Despite Joshua’s reluctance to face him again, Dubois remains a rising force in the heavyweight division. The young British heavyweight has expressed his desire for a rematch, believing he can perform better in a second encounter.
While Dubois continues to push for another shot, Joshua appears to have his sights set on bigger prizes, and for now, Amir Khan believes he is making the right choice by moving forward with other opportunities.
