Binance Holdings Limited Finance Executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, reportedly escaped from the custody of the office of the National Security Adviser, after guards on duty led him to a nearby mosque for prayers, Premium Time reports.
The report said the Binance executive escaped on March 22, from the Abuja guest house where he and his colleague, Tigran Gambaryan were detained.
Anjarwalla is believed to have flown out of Abuja using a Middle Eastern airliner although though no one has disclosed l how he got on that flight.
Premium Times says efforts are being made to unravel his intended destination of the British-Kenyan so as to bring him back to custody.
The Federal Government has in recent times begun a clampdown on crypto platforms. The authorities particularly accuse Binance of evading tax and failing to register with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
The FG says cryptocurrency platform conducted and profited from doing illegal transactions in Nigeria. It said the Nigeria incurred heavy losses because Binance was fixing exchange rates.
