Family and friends of a Lagos-based graduate, Badrudeen Abdulganiu, have appealed to kind-hearted Nigerians to urgently come to his aid to raise funds for a kidney transplant.

Abdulganiu, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, was diagnosed with Glomerular Kidney Disease and would need surgery as definitive treatment.

His medical report issued by the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and made available to The PUNCH by his family and friends in Lagos State, showed that his kidney had been badly damaged.

According to the medical report dated April 3, 2024, and signed by Dr Ekete O.I. Abdulganiu needs surgery to get back on his feet.

Ekete urged the public to help him in raising N8m for the surgery as soon as possible, in order to save his life.

“Badrudeen Ganiyu has been diagnosed with Glomerular Kidney Disease and would need surgery which costs N8m, as definitive treatment.

“We also urge the public to help him in raising the sum of N8m for the surgery as soon as possible, in order to save his life,” the doctor’s report read in part.

Speaking to our correspondent about the fundraiser, one of his friends, Samson Adeyemi, noted that friends and family have been able to raise about N500,000 so far but would need about N7.5m more for the surgery to be done.

“So far, we have been able to raise about N500,000, but we urgently need about N7.5m more to carry out the surgery on Abdulganiu in order to save his life,” Adeyemi said.

Another friend, Farouk Popoola, said, “We’re praying to God that he survives this. The doctors told us that he had a chance at survival if the surgeons carried out the required surgery on him.

“But without the N8m, the surgery can’t be carried out. So we urge Nigerians to kindly support us financially in raising the money for Ganiu’s surgery.”
