Benue-born chef, Naira Victor, is on a mission to set a new world record of 135-hour of cooking non-stop, to break the Guinness World Records for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

His target will put him over the current record holder, an Irish chef Alan Fisher, who cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes to dethrone Nigeria’s Chef Hilda Baci.

As at Monday morning at 1am when he rounded up cooking, the 30-year-old Benue chef has reached 135 hours and still cooking to achieve his feat.

Victor, who began cooking on Tuesday with an aim to reach his remarkable 135-hours non-stop cooking marathon had attracted dignitaries from far and wide at the Tiger Bar, venue of the event in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

Governor Hyacinth Alia was among the dignitaries who have visited the venue of the cook-a-thon to cheer up the chef and encourage other youths in the state to engage in profitable ventures capable of putting Benue on the world map.

Alia was accompanied by the Speaker of Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh; House of Representatives members; Lady Blessing Onuh, Prince Solomon Wombo and other top government functionaries.

Earlier, in a separate visit, the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly who is also the Vice Chairman, (North Central), Conference of Speakers of State Legislators, Dajoh led colleague Speakers from across Nigeria to stop over at Tiger Bar, venue for the cooking marathon and lend their support to Chef Victor.

Since Victor began his cooking adventure, the venue of the kitchen has remained a pilgrimage centre as crowd continued to throng the space day and night cheering up the young man to hit his target.

At the moment, he is billed to meet with the governor officially where the he will present him to Benue people as an example of hard work and resilience.

The Guinness World Records is yet to acknowledge or confirm Victor’s efforts.
