The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, on Tuesday, mourned the death of his former Special Adviser on Vocational and Technical Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa, describing it as a great loss to the state and the education sector.

Odemuyiwa reportedly died in an auto crash on Tuesday.

The 66-year-old don was said to be travelling to Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, where he was a lecturer, when the fatal accident happened.

Abiodun, in a condolence message, describedย  Odemuyiwaโ€™s death as tragic and sad.

He said the erstwhile special adviser was a team player who contributed immensely to the success recorded by his administration in vocational and technical education during his first term in office.

โ€œProf. Odemuyiwaโ€™s legacy as an educator and advocate will always be remembered and cherished.

โ€œHe was a highly respected individual who made significant contributions to the success of our administration in vocational and technical education.

โ€œHis sudden departure leaves a void that will be felt by many and will be sorely missed by all,โ€ย  the governor said in a statement.

He sympathised with the family and loved ones of the deceased.

โ€œPlease, accept my deepest condolences during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace,โ€ Abiodun added.

Odemuyiwa, a professor of Business Education, was an indigene of Isara Remo, Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

He had a stint at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye as well as Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun both owned by Ogun State.
