Abia PDP Expels Wabara as Ortom, Others Snub Ikimi Panel Again

The crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepened as the Abia State chapter of the party announced the expulsion of its Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, over alleged anti-party activities. The move comes amid growing internal conflicts within the party at both the state and national levels.

Wabara, a former Senate President, was accused of working against the party’s interests in the last general elections, a claim he has repeatedly denied. His expulsion has sparked reactions among party members, with some describing it as an act of political vendetta.

Meanwhile, former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, along with other prominent party figures, has once again refused to appear before the Chief Tom Ikimi-led PDP reconciliation panel. The panel, set up to address lingering disputes within the party, has been facing challenges due to non-compliance from key figures.

Ortom and several other party leaders have maintained their distance from the panel, citing concerns over fairness and bias in the reconciliation process. Their continued absence raises questions about the party’s ability to mend internal divisions, especially as it prepares for future elections.

Political analysts believe the crisis within the PDP, if not resolved soon, could further weaken the party’s structure and influence across different states. With Wabara’s expulsion and the refusal of top party members to engage in reconciliation efforts, the PDP faces a tough challenge in restoring unity and strengthening its position ahead of upcoming political battles.
