The FCT’s current senator, Ireti Kingibe, has expressed her displeasure that her colleague, former senator Philip Aduda, is routinely inaugurating projects alongside FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Kingibe acknowledged considering the possibility of attending such parties without being invited when questioned about it in an interview with Channels TV. She even hinted that she would do it. She said Wike might decide to ignore her presence, but he couldn’t send her away.
She also emphasized that Wike’s actions does not change the fact that she is the current representative in the Senate for the FCT
In Senator Kingibe’s words: “I might just [show up], Wike can’t send me away, he can only just ignore me but he can’t send me away. And also I don’t want to be confrontational, the people of the FCT are already grumbling all across the area council. They elected me with a huge margin, so their attitude is that ‘our mandate is being rubbished’ And I say it is not, I am the one sitting in the Senate, he (Wike) can call Senator Aduda but he is the former senator of the FCT, that is the reality. Just because he ignores it doesn’t make Senator Aduda the actual senator of the FCT and it doesn’t change the fact that the people elected me”.
