Abdullahi Tyabo Umar has been named the new technical adviser of Gombe United, a Nigeria National League (NNL) side. He takes over from veteran coach Bala Nkiyu, who was dismissed on Monday.
The appointment was announced by Gombe United’s general manager, Anas Bamusa, during an unveiling ceremony held in Gombe. Bamusa emphasized that Umar’s selection was based on his proven track record and alignment with the club’s future vision.
“Coach Tyabo was chosen because of his impressive history and his alignment with the football philosophy cherished by Gombe United supporters,” Bamusa stated. “Given his previous collaboration with our former Technical Adviser, Coach Aliyu Zubairu, and the significant improvements he brought to the team during that period, we are confident that Coach Umar can rebuild and elevate the squad just as Zubairu did.”
Bamusa added, “With his youth and vision, Abdullahi Umar shares the same ambitions I have for this club. I am confident that together, we can restore Gombe United to its rightful place of greatness.”
According to TuzzBeat, Umar previously served as an assistant coach at Akwa United.
