The Jigawa State Police Command has welcomed 448 newly passed-out police constables who underwent six months of rigorous training at the Police College Kaduna.
According to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmad Abdullahi, while welcoming the new constables in a statement made available to newsmen in Dutse on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, he warned the new recruits to be disciplined and follow the Nigeria Police Act and Regulations, as well as other federal laws.
Addressing the new police constables at the parade ground, according to the statement, CP Abdullahi urged them to carry out their primary duties with integrity, honesty, professionalism, and respect for human rights.
“You must be disciplined and follow the rules and regulations guiding your conduct as police officers,” he emphasised.
“You must be mindful of your actions and avoid any behaviour that can tarnish the image of the police force,” he warned.
Also, the statement revealed that “the new Police Constables, including General Duty and Specialists, were directed to undergo further training on practical police duty, weapons handling, musketry, and combat operations. This training will be conducted by the Department of Operations and Mobile Base, 35PMF Dutse, in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).”
However, CP Abdullahi emphasised the importance of adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and following the rules and regulations guiding police conduct.
“You must be professional in your conduct and respect the rights of citizens,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police also encouraged the new police constables to be dedicated to their duties and work towards making Jigawa State a safer place. “You have a critical role to play in maintaining law and order in the state,” he added.
“We will continue to work towards upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity,” CP Abdullahi said.
