Earlier, India lost the toss at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium against Charith Asalanka-led Sri Lanka, batted first and gave a target of 214 runs for Lankans to chase.
India scored 213/7 runs in 20 overs, all thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s half century (58 off 26 balls), Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 40 off 21 balls, Rishabh Pant’s 49 off 33 balls, and Shubman Gill’s 34 off 16 deliveries.
This is India highest T20I score in Sri Lanka.
For Sri Lanka, Matheesha Pathirana clicked Four wickets, while Dilshan Madushanka, Asitha Fernando and Wanindu Hasaranga took one wicket each.
Earlier, batting first, India scored 111/2 in 10 overs. As per stats, 74 runs is the highest powerplay score for India against Sri Lanka in T20Is.
