The All Progressive Congress Galadima Ward in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State has removed the state’s party chairman, Tukur Maikatako over what they described as bad leadership during his tenure.

Addressing journalists in Gusau on Saturday, the ward executive members said the decision to dismiss the state’s party chairman was because he could not lead the party in the state.

Speaking on behalf of the executive members, the Vice Chairman of the party, Alhaji Garba Bello disclosed that 16 out of 27 executive members of the ward signed for Maikatako’s dismissal from the party.

Bello said,  “It’s disheartening to note that the state APC chairman Tukur Danfulani Maikatako has caused division within the party due to his bad leadership in the state, which is against the party constitution and manifest from the national to state level.

“For example, Tukur Danfulani allegedly relegated party affairs to those that are not his excos, which is against the constitution of the party.”

According to him, 90 per cent of executive members of APC Galadima Ward have agreed unanimously and notified their ward members, APC Gusau LGA, as well as the state and national headquarters that Maikatako was dismissed from the party.

“The Galadima ward executive of APC therefore urged the party leadership at the national to as a matter of urgency sends a caretaker chairman to Zamfara state, as Tukur Danfulani Maikatako is no longer an APC member,” Bello added.

Our correspondents made efforts to speak with the state Maikatako, but could not be reached on the phone.

Similarly, the state’s APC Secretary Alhaji Yusuf Idris, did not respond to several phone calls and a text message sent to him at the time of filing this report.
