The Senate on Tuesday adjourned plenary till May 7 to facilitate further refurbishment of its chamber.
Following the Easter and Sallah breaks, the Red Chamber reconvened on Tuesday but encountered operational issues, notably poor audio quality within the chamber.
After six-week recess, the senators resumed in the newly renovated chamber, which opened over two years after reconstruction began.
Presiding over the session, Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, announced the adjournment till May 7 to allow for the finalisation of ongoing works in the chamber.
He stated, “Some finishing touches need to be done in the chamber. So, we will give them some time. Wednesday is Workers’ Day, so we won’t be meeting. We will also allow them Thursday till Monday to finish everything.
“We will reconvene on Tuesday, May 7.”
Earlier during Tuesday’s plenary, there were reports of brawls and quarrels among ranking senators over the sitting arrangement in the newly-renovated chamber.
