The Bauchi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to sanitising the operations of all mining companies within the state.

This move is aimed at ensuring compliance with established guidelines and boosting revenue generation.

The Bauchi State Commissioner of Natural Resources, Muhammad Maiwada Bello, disclosed this during an official visit to mining sites across several local governments of the state.

He emphasised that the state government has resolved to implement stringent measures to curb illegal mining activities and enhance revenue streams.

Maidawa stressed, “We are introducing innovative approaches to tackle illegal mining operations and streamline activities, with the ultimate goal of enhancing our state’s internal revenue.”

He noted the necessity for every mining company to collaborate closely with the ministry, adhere to provided protocols, and operate within the framework of Community Development Agreements and CDAs for the mutual benefit of host communities and the state as a whole.

The commissioner also underscored the importance for miners to be well-versed in terms of their mining licenses, spanning federal, state, and local government levels.to ensure seamless operations.

reports further that while engaging with community leaders during the visit, Maidawa Bello urged them to forge strong partnerships with local government chairpersons to address all the challenges that may arise from mining activities effectively.

“Let us collaborate with your respective chairpersons, identify issues, and resolve them amicably for the collective good,” he insisted.
